One of the myths about anger management is that the process tries to prevent you from feeling anger. Anger is a healthy, normal emotion when you know how to express it appropriately. Anger management is about learning how to do this. It is a process of learning to recognize signs that you’re becoming angry, and then calming down and dealing with situations in a positive way.
When your anger is hurting or destroying your relationships with other people and your relationship with yourself, making you miserable or is resulting in dangerous or violent behavior, you probably need help. Dr. Whitman has worked with clients to recognize and overcome their issues with anger. Using individual, group, and family therapy sessions he is able to mend relationships that were once damaged, and train his clients how to live in a new, healthier way.
