Dr. Whitman is currently helping first responders who suffer from addiction at an inpatient treatment center in Palos Verdes, Los Angeles.
It is estimated that over 17% of Americans, aged 12 or older have had a substance abuse disorder in the past year.
Dr. Whitman has over 20 years experience helping people with not only substance abuse, but also other addictions such as gambling, pornography and internet usage. In addition to working with addicted patients in private practice, clinics and hospitals he was a clinical supervisor at a drug addiction center. At this residential treatment center, he not only supervised intern therapists on how to work with addiction he co-led psychotherapy groups consisting of addicted clients.
Dr. Whitman has significant experience with related 12 step programs especially Alanon, which supports families and friends of alcoholics.
